One million is this year’s annual contribution to the City of Terrace from the Terrace Community Forest (TCF), a company owned by the City of Terrace.

TCF generated this amount from its 2024 commercial thinning forest harvesting program.

The City will put the money towards outdoor recreation and art projects in the community, as per the TCF's mandate to create employment opportunities within our community while supporting recreational and community groups.

Recent projects partly or fully funded by TCF funds include:

  • Electric Zamboni
  • Pickleball courts on Halliwell Avenue
  • Benches at Ferry Island
  • Salmon sculpture and Toad mural on Ferry Island
  • New art (mural and sculpture) coming to Skeenaview Point (In progress!)

To date, TCF has allocated $6 million to community projects in collaboration with various local partner organizations. TCF has also created direct community employment valued at approximately $37 million.

The City is grateful for the hard work of the Board of Directors, harvest contractor Timber Baron Contracting (2013) Ltd, Cypress Forest Consultants and First Nations partners (Kitsumkalum, Kitselas, Haisla, Metlakatla and Lax Kw'alaams).
