The Terrace and District Aquatic Centre will be opening on November 22! As our staff are actively training on many new systems, the facility will operate with FREE admission as follows as we ramp up… Public Swim & Gym Hours (November 22 to December 2) Monday to Friday 3pm to 8pm Saturday & Sunday 12pm to 5pm *Capacity is limited. The Terrace Fire Department is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) – the official sponsor of Fire Prevention Week for more than 90 years – to promote this year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign: “Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere”. The campaign works to educate the public about basic but essential ways to quickly and safely escape a home fire. Fire Prevention Week is October 7-13, 2018. Read more

We informed the public on August 17, 2018 that a deficiency in the tile works around the edge of the Main Pool had been identified during project construction. Since that time, the City’s project team has continued to work with our prime contractor, Viking Construction, to rectify the issue, and the City is exercising its rights under the contract to ensure the deficiency is corrected to the City’s satisfaction as quickly as possible and without any further cost to the City. We are pleased to report that correction of the deficiency is now underway. Read more

Due to the recent cool and wet weather in our area the Terrace Fire Department is now lifting the fire ban within the City of Terrace boundaries effective immediately. Read more

The Safe Needle Disposal Task Force would like to update the community on meetings held in August 2018. The Task Force's mandate is to provide recommendations for Council and City Administration regarding how to resolve related drug litter in the city. Together, representatives are working towards immediate solutions to prevent escalation. Read more

On August 30, 2018 at approximately 10:22 pm Terrace and Thornhill Fire Departments responded to reports of a structure fire on Doll St. on Brauns Island. The Terrace Fire Department responded within minutes and found the garage fully involved. The Thornhill Fire Department arrived and established a water supply. The fire was extinguished using multiple apparatus, 15 Terrace Fire Department members as well as numerous Thornhill Fire Department members. The fire caused extensive damage to a large shop and equipment, however, crews were able to save the house located on the property. Read more
