Regular Council Meeting: 7:30 pm

Regular Council: 

  • Councill will receive any public input regarding the 2021 Annual Report at the beginning of the meeting;

  • Council will receive a response from the Minister of Agriculture regarding their inquiry about BC's Farm Industry Review Board (BCFIRB) Transcript Fees;

  • Council will consider supporting a grant application to the UBCM Canada Community Building Fund – Strategic Priorities Fund: Capacity Building stream for a project to update the City of Terrace Slope Hazard Development Permit Area;

  • Council will consider allocating $15,000 from the Local Government Climate Action Program 2022 contribution for Phase 1 of the Climate Change Adaptation Plan project (adjusting the funding source from General Surplus), and consider allocating $62,000 from the Local Government Climate Action Program 2022 contribution to complete Phases 2 & 3 of the Climate Change Adaptation Plan project;

  • Council will consider first, second, and third reading of the Safe Streets Bylaw; and

  • Council will consider accepting the 2021 Annual Report;

Committee of the Whole (Development Services Component):

  • Council will review a Development Permit application for the property at 2912 Eby Street. The applicant, Tri-City Refrigeration, would like to make improvements to the property for a trade contracting business;

  • Council will review a Development Permit application for the property at 5043 Keith Avenue. The applicant, Canada West Ventures Inc., would like to construct a new additional mini-storage building at 5043 Keith Avenue;

  • Council will consider amending and re-reading second reading of a bylaw to make a minor change to the site-specific permitted use of the AR2 – Rural Zone for the property at 4423 Eby Street (Daybreak Farms). On February 14, 2022 the proposed site-specific permitted use read “Intensive Agriculture, limited to an egg production facility with a maximum capacity of 80,000 mature birds”. The change will remove “mature birds” and add “egg laying chicken hens”; and

  • Council will consider first and second reading of a bylaw to amend the Zoning Bylaw to change the zoning designation from R1 – Single Detached Residential to R1-A – Single Detached Residential and RB1 – Bare Land Strata Single Detached Residential for a portion of the property at 4007 Thomas Street, and to change the zoning designation from R2 – Semi-Detached Residential to RB1 – Bare Land Strata Single Detached Residential for a portion of the property at 5013 Halliwell Avenue.

How can you participate in upcoming Council meetings, public hearings, and more? You are welcome to participate in our meetings in person or virtually. Members of the public have an opportunity in the public hearing to provide their input on the topic being discussed once the Mayor calls for speakers. There is also an opportunity at the end of our regular Council meeting for the public and media to comment or ask questions about items on the regular Council meeting agenda.
