City flags will be flown at half mast this weekend, April 25 to 27, and on Monday, April 28.

This is to honour two events: the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis, who passed away on Monday, April 21, and to recognize the National Day of Mourning, which is marked annually on April 28.

This national memorial day gives Canadians an opportunity each year to remember workers killed, disabled or injured in the workplace, and workers afflicted with industrial disease. City workers will also have a minute of silence at 11am on Monday, April 28 to honour those lost.

Flags on all Government of Canada buildings and establishments across the country, including the Peace Tower in Ottawa, will also be flown at half-mast to honour both these events.
