Last week, Terrace Community Forest presented the City of Terrace with a cheque for $1.5 million, which represents the revenue generated from their 2022 commercial thinning and retention harvesting program. These funds will be placed in the Terrace Community Reserve Fund, which is jointly managed by the City of Terrace and Terrace Community Forest (TCF).

The reserve fund targets community projects with an emphasis on outdoor recreation. Previous funds were directed to City of Terrace projects including trail and bridge upgrades on Howe Creek Trail and Ferry Island; the eagle, bench, and bridge carvings by JJ Jung on Howe Creek Trail; the carved entrance sign by JJ Jung on Ferry Island; the metal toad sculpture by Steve Rogers on Ferry Island; and trail development on the Millennium Trail.

To date, TCF has also allocated $4.75 million to community projects with other recipients, such as the Terrace Office-Road Cycling Association, My Mountain Co-Op, Snow Valley Nordic Ski Club, and Terrace Rod & Gun—just to name a few. TCF has also created direct community employment closing in on $25 million.

Terrace Community Forest extends a big thank-you to its Board of Directors, harvest contractor Timber Baron Contracting(2013) Ltd, and Cypress Forest Consultants for making Terrace Community Forest the organization it is today.
