Re-Opens Nov 22


The City of Terrace and Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine are thrilled to announce the official opening of the Terrace & District Aquatic Centre on November 22.

Interim Operational Hours – November 22 to December 2

The Department of Leisure Services staff will continue their training on several new systems in the building over the coming weeks, therefore, the interim operational hours for public swims and gym use will be as follows:

Monday to Friday: 3:00pm to 8:00pm

Saturday and Sunday: 12:00pm to 5:00pm

User Fees

From November 22 to December 2 all facility use will be FREE to patrons. Admission is on a first-come, first-serve basis as capacity is limited.

Regular operating hours will resume Dec 3.



This Project renewed almost all of the pool's critical operating systems (as listed below) and modernized a 50 year old facility.   The Project was very challenging from start to finish but the City is thrilled with the end result and welcome you to come for a swim.

Project highlights:

  • Main Pool is 8" deeper with a new flush gutter system and access ramp

  • Leisure Pool is larger in size and has water features with access ramp

  • Hot Pool has access ramp

  • New family change room with a special needs change room

  • 2000 square foot gym with added fitness equipment

  • Reception and lobby area renovated

  • Leisure and Hot Pool mechanical systems were replaced

  • UV disinfection systems added to all pools

  • New boilers and  HVAC system for the facility

Total project costs including enhancements is $8.8 million.

Grant funding is being provided by UBCM's Gas Tax Strategic Priorities Fund and Northern Development Initiative Trust.
