Sport and Recreational Funding Opportunities for Low Income Families

These are funding programs available for low income families who want to put their children into sports or recreation programs such as preschool classes or swimming.

KidSport - up to $200 is available to children 6 - 18 years of age to pay for sport registration fee.

Jumpstart - up to $300 is available for children 4 - 18 years of age to pay for sport or recreation registration, equipment or transportation.

Stars for Success - up to $200 is available to preschool aged children to pay for swimming, gymnastics, dancing, playgroup fees etc.

How to Access the Programs:

Go to the Sportsplex office and pick up an application form or download the appropriate form below and return the completed form to the Sportsplex office.  All applications are forwarded to the respective program committees.  Should applicants need assistance in completing the application forms please let our staff know and they would be happy to assist you.

Leisure Access Program

The City of Terrace offers the Leisure Access Program to individuals and families who are on social assistance from the Ministry of Employment & Income Assistance or CPP benefits from Service Canada.

How to Access the Program:

Go to the Aquatic Centre or Sportsplex office and pick up a letter which must be taken to the respective agency for verification.  Return the letter to the Aquatic Centre or the Sportsplex office and a Leisure Access Card(s) will be issued.

The Leisure Access Card will permit access to public swimming and skating programs at a cost of $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for children.  Cardholders who are 16 years or older also have access to the fitness centre/gym at the Aquatic Centre at a cost of $2.00 per visit.

Leisure Access Cards are valid for three months.
