FAQs - Business Licencing
BUSINESS LICENCING FAQs
If you operate a business within the City of Terrace you need a business licence.
Operating a business is defined by our bylaw as;
“The carrying on of a commercial or industrial undertaking of any kind or nature or the providing of professional, personal or other services for the purpose of gain and profit, but does not include an activity carried on by the government, its agencies or government owned corporations”
Where can I operate my business?
Before entering into a lease, or the purchase of a commercial piece of property be sure to visit the City Planner and the Building Inspector to determine if that “Use” is permitted in that zone. You can also enquire about your licence fee at this time.
How do I get my business licence?
You can make application at the City of Terrace Public Works office, Monday to Friday during business hours. Your application will be reviewed by the City Planner and the Building Inspector before being approved by the Licence Inspector.
