Lifeguard Development Program
This program is open to anyone over the age of 14 who would like to consider lifeguarding/instructing as either a career, or a casual job. This program will develop your swimming skills and teach you the basic lifesaving skills necessary to be successful in the Bronze Medallion/Bronze Cross. Dates TBA
Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross Combo Course
Bronze Awards teach an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of rescue education - knowledge, judgment, skill and fitness. Lifesavers develop stroke efficiency and endurance in timed swims.To meet Lifesaving Society requirements as a “combo” course, candidates must take both courses. Dates TBA
Aquatic Emergency Care (AEC)
If you are planning to be a professional lifeguard or looking for more comprehensive first aid and lifesaving training, Aquatic Emergency Care will give you the edge. AEC provides hands-on training in the care of injuries or illness common in both aquatic and non-aquatic settings. AEC includes Standard First Aid, CPR-C, introduction to oxygen therapy, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED)-Responder certification. Dates TBA
Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
The WSI course prepares candidates to instruct the Red Cross Swim Programs, by focusing on strategies to introduce and develop fitness activities, skills and water safety, and swimming strokes within all of the Red Cross Swim Programs. Dates TBA
This leadership course will teach you how to teach the Canadian Swim Patrol, Jr. LIfeguard Club, and Bronze Medal awards. Dates TBA
National Lifeguard - Pool Option
The National LIfeguard Pool Certification is designed to develop the fundamental values, judgment, knowledge, skills and fitness required by lifeguards. The course emphasizes the lifeguarding skills, principles and practices, and the decision-making processes which will assist the lifeguard to provide effective safety supervision in swimming pool environments. First Aid courses will be offered throughout the Spring and Summer at the Sportsplex.
Red cross First Aid Instructor Recertification Clinic
This day-long clinic includes practical first aid and teaching/evaluation skills session, professional development and updates relating to Canadian Red Cross first aid issues. Dates TBA
CPR-C Recertification Clinics
In this 4 hour recertification clinic, candidates will review: Principles of first aid, use of barrier devices and how to call EMS. Adult, child and infant CPR skills and AED use, 2 rescuer CPR and AED procedures. Adult, child and infant conscious and unconscious choking procedures and circulatory emergencies to include recognition and treatment of a heart attack, angina, stroke and TIA.
CPRC Full Course

Aquatic Fitness Instructor Certification
Specialize in water fitness training and certification. Training is suitable for all fitness levls and capabilities. This program will teach you everything you need to know to be an exceptional aquatic fitness instructor. Dates TBA
Terrace Healthy Living Program
Clients who are diagnosed by their medical practitioner to be eligible for the THLP will present a note to the reception area of the Aquatic Centre. The client will receive a 50% discount on either a drop-in pass or a three month pass. THLP Participants must come during the Healthy Living Program times only.
