General Info

The Leisure Services Department is responsible for the management and operation of the Sportsplex, Aquatic Centre, cemeteries and over 100 hectares of park lands and amenities throughout the community.

Leisure Services Department is proud of its parks, with over 30 km of multi-use trails, bike skills park, 7 ball diamonds, 8 soccer pitches, skateboard park, 5 tennis courts, bocci courts, horseshoe pits, numerous playgrounds and George Little Park located in the heart of our downtown.

The Department is also responsible for the administration of the Kitsumkalum Cemetery and the Terrace Municipal Cemetery.

The Aquatic Centre is a popular facility with young and old alike. It includes a main pool, leisure pool, hot tub, fitness centre and 2 saunas. The facility offers all the regular pool programs as well as a variety of first aid courses.

The Sportsplex is the newest public facility in the community and features 2 arenas, 2 multi-purpose rooms and a conference room. The facility is now open year-round for sporting activities and is host to several large events such as conferences and trade shows.

Aquatic Centre

The Terrace Aquatic Centre sees more the 200,000 visitors annually.  The dedicated staff teach hundreds of children to swim each year, as well as provide the community with higher level aquatic and emergency training courses.

City Adopts Wood First Bylaw

On August 23, 2010, City of Terrace Council adopted a bylaw to encourage the use of wood first as a primary building material in the design and construction of City-funded buildings. 

Terrace Aquatic Centre Maintenance

The Terrace Aquatic Centre facility will be closed for annual maintenance August 30 to September 26. 

Terrace Community Foundation

The City of Terrace is looking for volunteers to sit on the Steering Committee for the new Terrace Community Foundation.

Additional Sprinkling Restrictions

Additional water sprinkling restrictions are in effect as of July 12, 2010.

City Testing Live Webcasts of City Council Meetings

The City will be continuing to test the new, live webcast system during City Council meetings.

Energy Conservation Assistance Program Available for Homeowners and Renters

The Energy Conservation Assistance Program (ECAP) provides qualified low-income BC Hydro residential account holders with a home energy evaluation, the installation of energy saving products, and personalized energy efficiency advice.
